Awards season is about to kick into gear with the announcement of the latest batch of Golden Globe nominations.

The films and television shows vying for success at the annual awards ceremony will be announced today (6 December) by Terry Crews, Leslie Mann, Christian Slater and The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira who earned acclaim this year for her role in Black Panther. Expect to see the likes of A Star Is Born, Roma and The Favourite in contention for the film trophies.

That’s not all: the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which runs the event, is also teasing a “major announcement” that will be revealed during the press conference taking place in Los Angeles at 1pm GMT.

Follow along with all the nominations as they’re announced in our live blog below.

Joaquin Phoenix and Lynne Ramsay for You Were Never Really Here.

First up, The Rider and everybody involved in that beautiful film (not seen it? Rectify that immediately).

To finish off, I’m gonna post a few people/things that won’t get nominated but really really should.

Just 20 mins to go before I try to tell you the nominations as they’re announced at breakneck speed.

Give Keri Russell a Golden Globe, godammit!

Also worth remembering voters enjoy nominating shows that have come to an end so The Americans should get some love.

And then there’s the limited series which’ll (probs) see American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, A Very English Scandal and Sharp Objects nominated.

See also: Atlanta Robbin’, GLOW, Barry aaaaaand (overrated sitcom) The Good Place.

Comedy wise, all eyes are on Amazon sensation The Marvellous Mrs Maisel.

For those of you who actually made it through the final season…

Will former critical darlings House of Cards and Westworld make the cut? We’re gonna say the former will most definitely will be shunned.

In the drama category, expect to see Killing Eve lead the pack with The Handmaid’s Tale, This Is Us and Homecoming trailing.

Okay okay, so film doesn’t get all the love at the Globes because it’s shared with TV because there really is no difference these days.

Despite strong competition from Nicole who’s gone all Virginia Woolf once again for her role in Destroyer, it’s Gaga’s for the taking.

Her closest competitors include Nicole Kidman (Destroyer) Glenn Close (The Wife), Viola Davis (Widows), and Natalie Portman for crazy dance film Vox Lux.

Her very very probable nomination today puts egg on the face of Bobby Cannavale who at the time tweeted that a “real actress” should have won. Joke’s on you, pal.

Before you start thinking this is the year Lady Gaga could *shock horror* win a Golden Globe, don’t go forgetting she already won one back in 2016 for American Horror Story: Hotel.

Supporting Actor wise, it should look a lot like this:

Sam Elliott for A Star Is Born
Adam Driver for BlacKkKansman
Timothee Chalamet for Beautiful Boy
Mahershala Ali for Green Book (if they lump him in supporting)

Side note: may I present to you the most inspired presenting duo of all time.

Just a few hours to go! I have a lot more predictions for you, so keep me company.

The 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony will air on 6 Jan 2019, presented by Killing Eve star Sandra Oh and Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Andy Samberg.

These nominations will establish the early front runners ahead of the BAFTAs and Academy Awards

The HFPA will stream the nominations announcement live on the awards’s Facebook page

In the TV drama acting categories, the Best Actress race is particularly strong, with Oh, The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Elisabeth Moss and Robin Wright (House of Cards) expected to join Julia Roberts in the running, who’s expected to be nominated for her role in Amazon series Homecoming.
